30 Photos That Changed the World
The first picture that I chose to include is a picture of General Nguyen executing a Viet Cong Prisoner in Saigon. The picture was taken by Eddie Adams in 1968. I chose this picture because it reminded me of the movie American Sniper which is the movie that has given me the most real image of the abuse and murder and goes on in different parts of the world. The second picture is a group of 12 pictures that was considered a 'biological landmark' because it showed that in a horses stride, there is a point when all four hooves are in the air. I really like this picture, not for the point that it proves, but the way it compares different stances of a horse mid-run.
The third picture, though close to being tied by the first, is the most gruesome picture included. This picture was captured in an Indiana park in 1930. Thousands of white men stand watching the execution of two black men who had been accused of raping a white woman. The photographers purpose in taking this photo is to show that the horrible mistreatings of colored people where fairly recent. He believed that people would look back on these murders and say, 'That won't happen again-that was so long ago', when in reality this picture was captured in 1930. This was happening left and right less than a century ago.
